Value modeling is a key tool in the lean manufacturing tool box.  It is used to both document the current process and to describe the design of a new or improved (waste reduced) process.  The value model typically documents:

• Process time

• Batch sizes

• Machines

• Quantities

• Workers

• Cycle time

• Changeover time
